Why Crowdfunding?
For anyone with internet access, it is now possible to:
- Find new companies with great ideas all over the world,
- Communicate with those companies and buy their products or services, regardless of where they are,
- Pay for those products or services, in other currencies, immediately and easily, using sites like PayPal,
- Tell your friends about it, immediately and for free, using sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Crowdfunding takes these principles and applies them to investment. Meaning you now have an opportunity to find new companies just starting out and invest small amounts of money in them to help them achieve their goals. In return you get a share in the company and, if it succeeds, you get to share in that success.

- GrowVC has attracted $12.7m of funds from small investors since February 2010
- Trampoline Systems, a London based software company has recently raised over $0.5m from many small investors
- Kickstarter has funded projects with funds received from 70,000 small investors
