How The Shower Works

Water Recycling Shower

The water recycling shower works just like a normal shower but uses 70% less water and energy than a conventional shower. The shower always starts with 100% fresh mains water, meaning you never use someone else’s shower water, and recycles automatically unless you turn the recirculation function off.

The recycling shower cleans, filters and pasteurises the water in 30 seconds before immediate re-use. Pasteurisation is the process that makes milk safe to drink, meaning the recirculated water is very hygienic. When you turn the shower off, it drains itself completely before the next user.

Buying a Water Recycling Shower

The shower is still under development but is expected to be on sale by the end of 2012 in Australia, the USA and throughout Europe. Prices will not be finalised until the shower is launched but it will cost more to purchase than conventional showers. However, the recycling shower will cost less to install than a conventional shower, will reduce the demand on your hot water system by up to 50% and should save an average family of 4 about $937 every year. This means that on average payback will be less than 3 years and can be as little as 9 months.
